Process

Through a process involving surveys, presentations, and workshops, the culture was mapped out, and initial measures, anchored with the management, were developed.

The measures that were implemented were both structural and social:

  • Structural measures: The theme of psychological safety was anchored in the company's systems by including it in onboarding, performance reviews, and as a fixed item on all meeting agendas. A digital resource portal was also established.
  • Social measures: To build relationships and trust, activities such as "walk and talk" and other cross-team meeting opportunities were arranged.

It was crucial that the management actively worked with the topic and that psychological safety was integrated into the new organizational model.

Results

The results showed significant improvements in all areas of psychological safety, including individual safety, team respect, and learning. The changes in the communication and collaboration culture were especially positive.

Feedback from employees and managers confirms that the work on psychological safety over time has had a major positive impact on daily operations. There is now a common understanding that continuous prioritization is crucial to maintain these results.

What coul be improved?

Not all measures could be implemented in the course of a hectic workday. Since Hystar desires a continuous focus on psychological safety, integrated into the company's values and focus, the plan is to implement these over time.
